Capture The Colour - The Colour of Faith

“I saw god throught the color…”

As spirituality seeker, I have visited many holy places. In my journey I found how strong an influence of the colour for a conviction faith.

Here, I try to take the challenge from my friends "Arti" to publish a blog post with a photo that captures the following 5 colours - Blue, Green, Yellow, White and Red.

Yes, we try to join the competition of "Capture the Colour". How the lens of our camera, keep the memories of journey throught the colour.

White

"When you photograph people in colour, you photograph their clothes. But when you photograph people in Black and white, you photograph their souls!"

Varanasi - India.

Varanasi is Nirvana of the India. The destination of peace-seekers. Keep a lot of wisdom throught the age. Where death is welcomed with joy. And the birth greeted with new hope.

Red

"The true colour of life is the colour of the body, the colour of the covered red, the implicit and not explicit red of the living heart and the pulses. It is the modest colour of the unpublished blood."

Wat Pho - Thailand

The picture was taken under the sacred "bodhi" tree behind Wat Pho. Where many people here, leave the prayer sticks. Yes, for buddhism burn incense stick is part of the prayer ritual. They believe, smoke that comes out will bring a prayer quick to the heavens.

Yellow

Tibet Monastry

For Tibetan, Yellow is the manifest colour of earth, and thus a symbol of rootedness and the equanimity of the earth. Every morning i saw a group of monks with the yellow cloth, start prayer and light the candle and lamps inside the monastry. Lamps or candles symbolize wisdom, eliminating the darkness of ignorance. In Tibetan monasteries hundreds of lamps are lit as offerings everyday.

Blue

"When I start thinking about heaven, the first thing that come in my brain is Blue colour"

Hampi - India

The picture was taken inside the india home in Hampi India, the blue colour mix with a lot of picture ancestor pin in a wall, shows the boundary between heaven and earth. The Ancestors is a very important part for society india, although they were already dead but india believe if the spirit still alive and gives much influence to the daily live. They give prayer everday and also puja to the ancestor.

Green

"Green is the prime color of the world, and that from which its loveliness arises"

Bali - Indonesia

These are small offering baskets called ‘canang sari ' that Balinese offer to their Gods three times a day. It is basically a ritual of giving back what has been given to you by the Gods. It is a sharing that is not based upon fear, but on gratitude to the richness of life. Offering appeases the spirits and brings prosperity and good health to the family. It is a duty and an honour at the same time, and in Balinese perspective a very natural and almost logical thing to maintain a good relationship between people and spirits.
