Bharatanatyam Pushpanjali - My First Performance

"I would believe only in a God that knows how to dance.." - Friedrich Nietzsche-

We can conected with God in many ways, depend on which way you think it's good for your faith and belief...

After finish some spiritual journey , visited many ancient temple, i'm realy curious and interest to learn , why in every part of religion they always use dance as part of devotion...?

So i decide to learn the philosophy and also practice sacred dancing for the next step of my spiritual life. And my choice fell on classical dance Bharatanatyam from Tamilnadu India.

I have my own reason why i choose Bharatanatyam dance. After visited the holy temple of Kanchipuram, my eyes just stuck on all the sclupture posh around the temple. How beautiful the God and the Goddess posh carved. I just imagine if we are human can do it.

After searching and research, i find one clasical dance from India that dance based on holy text, where the dancer consecrates her art as a sacred act for the Divine. Conveys the epic stories of the Gods and Goddeses through intricate hand gestures (mudras), foot patterns and expression (abhinaya). Grace, purity and tenderness. Bharatanatyam.

Many of the ancient sculptures in Hindu temples are based on Bharatnatyam dance postures karanas. In fact, it is the celestial dancers, apsaras, who are depicted in many scriptures dancing the heavenly version of what is known on earth as Bharatnatyam. The dance becomes a moving meditation of deep devotion and surrender. The sacred act of dance was used as a sublime vehicle of prayer, healing, and honoring of the Divine.

And after learn some time, i have chance to perform Bharatanatyam - Pushpanjali. Pushpam means "flower" and anjali means "offering with folded hands". Pushpanjali is the first dance in a performance. It is the salutation to the lord of dance Nataraja, the Guru, the musicians and the audience.

Nerveous..? Yes, but i remember my Guru Ji say's, dance with your soul, feel the God around..the beauty and divine will come together..

Satyam , Shivam, Sundaram...

Thank you for Indian Embassy in Jakarta for inviting me to dance and also my respectful greetings to the Guru Ji Sindhu Raj.
