Last year i remember, whispered quietly in front the statue of ganesha " hope i have long life, so i can celebrate your birthday again with more flower and candle next year".
And my words were answered ...
Today i try to join the ganesha chaturthi celebration, just sit with many ganesha devote around. Do puja , chant and sing a song to celebrate Ganesha Birthday.
The bell rang, The priest read the holy words, the smell of incense fills the temple, invited Ganesha blessing to come...
Almost one hour Vedic hymns from the Rig Veda and Ganapati Atharva Shirsha Upanishad, and Ganesha stotra from the Narada Purana are chanted. I understand nothing, what i feel when i listen the hymns is peace and happiness inside a blessing prayer.
Aum shreem gam saubhaagya ganpataye varvard sarvajanm mein vashamaanya namah
We ask for good fortune (sau-bhaagya) and many blessings and wishes (var-vard) for our current and future life-times (sarva-janam-me.n). We bow in homage (namH) to Lord Ganesha who protects us with long lives (avaShamaanya) of health and happiness.
All inside standing , clapping and singing. Be a sign that new hope will coming soon. Glowing like a "diya" the prayer light, that lit for ganesha all over the world.
I walk and start the auspicious beginnings of my life hope all without the obstacle. and full of joy, prosperity, good health, knowledge and wisdom .

ReplyDeleteYes , though you're not a hindu you can come and sit inside, just respect and do not make noise. They have day praying 6.30 - 7.00 PM :)

the ganesha temple open from morning till evening, but if you want attand the evening arti, i think they start around 6 - 7 PM. And everymonth in end of week, they have chaturthi puja too, just check the website to know special puja schedule, jai bapa morya :)

If you want ganesha idol made from stone or wood you can try to visit sarinah plaza (3rd floor) or Grand Indonesia (alun alun indonesia). Or you can visit some small store in pasar baru and sunter (the india area)

You are welcome , i will try to contact the concerned people if i come there :), just for your info beside the chathurti puja every new moon, the ganesha temple have vishnu sharanam puja too everymonth, give me your email and i will give you update the date :)
